It´s not only Måns Zelmerlöv that is a hero. I am one too!
There is alot of trash everywhere, we all know that. People don´t thinkand are throw their trash everywhere. Stupid if you ask me. The beauty of the nature doesn´t need to be destroyed by trash.
In Koh Lipe they arranged for volunteers to go every monday and pick trash. There is also trash camp, where people go away and live on a beach, for example, and there sort the trash. Because it´s not only about sorting the trash and dispose of it but to reuse it as much as possible. Make it not be trash anymore. Flip-flops are made into a mosaic like floor, lighters are made into lamps etc etc.
I so want to start something like that in Langkawi as well but in the mean time Rotary Langkawi is doing a great job organizing yearly events where schools, rangers, volunteers and others can participate in making Langkawi a cleaner place.
It does start at home tho, we all know that, with our surroundings and with ourselves.
This event was held in Kilim geoforest park in Langkawi, we had about 100 people going out on boats and clean one beach from trash. Boy did we pick up alot of trash!
Also teaching the kids to don´t throw trash in the nature and helping them to understand why is important. The kids are our future!
